Manchester City will be without both Ederson and Zack Steffen for their Premier League clash away at Leicester City on Saturday.
As reported by the Times, Man City have been informed by FIFA that they will be unable to select their Brazilian players for a five-day period or risk possible sanctions.
The ban is a direct consequence of clubs refusing to release stars for international duty due to games being played in red-list countries
Ederson is one of eight Premier League stars to be hit by FIFA ban – opening the door for veteran stopper Scott Carson to make a rare start as No.2 goalkeeper Zack Steffen tested positive for Covid-19 while on duty with the United States national team.
Since initially arriving on loan at City in 2019, Carson has made just one Premier League appearance for the reigning champions – starting in the thrilling 4-3 win over Newcastle United on the final day of last season.
According to Pol Ballús, City’s goalkeeping options this weekend against Brendan Rodgers’s side include Scott Carson (36), Cieran Slicker (18) and Mikki van Sas (17), which makes the tie all the more challenging for the Premier League champions.
However, On social media, Some City fans were calling out for Kyle Walker to replace Ederson following the update from Brazil. The England international played between the sticks briefly for the Manchester giants in the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League against Atalanta.
Here’s what some City fans had to say about Walker jokingly replacing Ederson on Twitter…
Time for @kylewalker2 masterclass. Premier League ain't ready for that. pic.twitter.com/bI0PKHrpVG

The disrespect for Walker is unreal. This guy has never conceded a goal in his entire career, 100% save percentage yet isn't considered an option? Embarrassing

Walker in the goal and Stones as right back it's the best fix. Remeber Walker still holds a record in the UCL as the only keeper Atalanta hasn't scored against the man is a wall!
