Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has been speaking about the future of Manchester City’s Phil Foden.
The England star still has three years left on his current deal, but City are said to be eager to hand him improved terms.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that a deal appears to be done at the Etihad and that Foden will be sticking around until the summer of 2027:
“The agreement has been reached and completed between Phil Foden, his new agency and the Manchester City board over a new contract until June 2027. He signed a new deal with Manchester City only two years ago, but it’s really impressive what Foden did with Man City and with the English national team, he’s been always great showing his skills, showing his potential.
“And so this is why Manchester City, months ago – as I revealed on my podcast Here We Go about Phil Foden – opened talks with Manchester City over a new deal, now everything is set to be signed and completed. There is a verbal agreement between Foden and Man City.
“As I said, it will be a six-year deal, so everything is completed between the two parties. Now it’s time to sign, to prepare the paperwork, but Foden will stay at Man City.”
Foden, one of the greatest talents to have come off of City’s production line in recent years, is beginning to find his feet again, as he looks to try and cement himself as a permanent fixture in Pep Guardiola’s plans.
The 21-year-old is considered an elite young talent and is already a key player for Pep Guardiola’s side, playing his part in two of the club’s recent Premier League title victories.
