Manchester City legend Shaun Goater has claimed he will speak to the father of Erling Haaland to persuade him to join the Premier League club.
Goater and Alf-Inge Haaland were team-mates at Man City from 2000-2003, with the pair winning promotion to the Premiership in 2002 together.
After failing to sign a striker in the summer, City have been heavily linked with Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland as they seek to find a replacement for Sergio Aguero.
The attacker is arguably the hottest property in world football, with the 21-year-old attacker already one of the best finishers in Europe.
There are a host of European clubs interested in Haaland, however, with Manchester City among those weighing up whether to activate the €75m release clause in his contract.
The Norwegian striker is reportedly top of their list and Goater told The Sun that he would do what he could to bring in an ‘exceptional buy.’
‘If they need me to talk to Alf, I’ll do what I can,’ said the 51-year-old.
‘He’d be an exceptional buy as he’s young, his scoring record in Europe is phenomenal and I think he’d adjust to the Premier League easily.’
‘If you’re talking £65m, you are getting a real good deal. He played against City in the Champions League last season and his pace was frightening. Wow.
‘I hope City are strongly looking at him with Kane and Ronaldo in the past.’
These Goater’s comment has prompt Plenty of Sky Blues to react on social media.
