Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims the club have been looking at Villarreal defender Pau Torres for a ‘long time’.
The Villarreal centre-back, who has become a crucial part of Emery’s team, has certainly come to the Premier League and Europe’s attention in the past 12 months.
City are said to be ‘well positioned’ in the race for Torres, and the information Begiristain has received seems to place the English champions in the box seat for his signature.
According to Marca as relayed by Sport Witness, the premier leaque champions hold interest in Villarreal centre-back, and know ‘everything’ about the player and had even made ‘direct contact’ with his environment in the summer.
The report adds that Pau Torres’ performances last season saw Txiki Begiristain make sure he was ‘very well positioned’ to have the player on Man City’s agenda, and has been receiving first-hand info from people close to Torres, on a professional/personal level.
However, any possible move from Man City for Pau Torres could depend on Benjamin Mendy [suspended] and Aymeric Laporte’s situations.
Torres played both in the Euro’s and Olympics this summer with the Spanish national team. He’s also got two clean sheets out of three matches he started for Villarreal this season.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
Would be a great addition to the squad

He would be quality but I reckon we need to offload laporte if we go for him

Probably will replace Laporte, when Stones gets back in the team he won’t be happy being back up again

Icl I forgot Mendy played for us, I think we will 100% sign him if Laporte wants to leave next summer even though I’d prefer him to stay

Clearly laporte wants to leave

Clearly a potential Laporte if he left. Nothing to do with Mendy as we need a left back, not another centre back

Laporte replacement if he still moans next summer.
