Manchester City would cruise to the Premier League title with Harry Kane upfront this season, according to Sky Sports pundit and ex-Manchester United star, Gary Neville.
The premier leaque champions tried and failed to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur over the summer. They did all they could to land Kane but Tottenham refused to negotiate, and with no suitable alternative they decided to go into the season with Jack Grealish as their only senior addition.
Having parted company with club legend Sergio Aguero, City entered the new season with just one recognised striker in the squad – Gabriel Jesus.
They have started the new season brightly but lack a hitman to bury the flurry of chances created by their midfield.
The Cityzens are currently using Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Ferran Torres in rotation to play the number nine role.
Talking about the situation after City’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool in his blog on Sky Sports, Neville said City would dominate the league if they signed Kane.
“If Manchester City had Harry Kane, I’m telling you now, then this league is done. It’s done. Forget his form at Spurs, the league would be done,” Neville said.
“Him out there on that pitch today among that group of players is taking a chance. He’s scoring a goal. If he’s in there, I remove that doubt I have about Manchester City.”
However, Since his attempt to force a move to Manchester City ended in failure, the England captain has looked a shadow of the player who finished as the Premier League’s top scorer last term.
Kane has struggled for form under Nuno Santo, albeit he did hit a hat-trick in the Europa Conference League. He is now without a goal in six Premier League games, his worst scoring drought in the top-flight since 2015-16.
