Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing 31-year-old German playmaker Toni Kroos from Real Madrid in a cut-price move.
The midfielder has only made three appearances for Los Blancos during the 2021-22 campaign due to injury, but he remains an important figure for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
Kroos’s contract at the Bernabeu is due to expire in June 2023, though, and Real Madrid are thought to be keen to freshen their midfield during next summer’s transfer window.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Toni Kroos is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a potential cut-price move in the summer transfer window.
The report claims claimed that Manchester City are interested in signing the Germany international and could attempt to acquire the midfielder at the start of 2022.
The German international is considering his future at the Santiago Bernabeu and could seek a final big contract with a move to Manchester City.
The German has scored 22 goals and registered 80 assists in 323 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions, winning two La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns in the process.
Kroos joining Manchester City for free will makes a lot of sense, not only financially but also as he would slot in perfectly with Pep Guardiola’s possession-heavy tactics.
As it stands, Manchester City have three midfielders whose contracts are set to expire in 2023 – Riyad Mahrez, Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling, the latter of which has been angling for a departure in January.
