Liverpool fans were blown away by Joao Cancelo’s performance during Manchester City’s 2-0 win at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Going ahead through an Eric Bailly own goal, before star man Bernardo Silva beat David de Gea just before half-time, the Cityzens could have scored more had it not been for De Gea relentlessly morphing into a wall.
And though United managed to get a foothold in the possession charts after half-time, they rarely troubled Ederson on an afternoon that the Blues managed comfortably.
It was a dominant afternoon against Manchester united but one man who impress not a lot of Man City fans but Rival fans was Joao Cancelo, who Made United players look silly several times with his footwork.
Cancelo is the only player to start all 11 of City’s league games this season – even Ruben Dias can’t match that after his marathon efforts last year – and showed again why he is so essential to Guardiola’s team.
The 27-year-old created both goals, forcing an Eric Bailly own goal before sweeping a ball in for Bernardo Silva to squeeze home, while also helping his team secure a clean sheet during their triumph in the Manchester derby.
It feels like Cancelo is talked about all the time at the moment, but he keeps getting better that even Liverpool fans are seriously impressed by what they are seeing from the £60 million player (BBC Sport) and think he is just an incredible footballer to watch.
Here is a selection of Liverpool fans reacting to Cancelo’s performance yesterday.
Joao Cancelo is world class at both LB and RB.
That’s basically unheard of. Fantastically good player.
