Manchester City fans on social media are enraged with how low their homegrown superstar Phil Foden came in this year’s Ballon d’Or voting.
There’s no surprise nowadays that multiple Manchester City players are nominated for the top individual awards.
Five Manchester City players were in the 30-man shortlist to be crowned the Ballon d’Or as Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden, Ruben Dias, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez were all in contention.
Kevin De Bruyne ranked highest in eighth, with Raheem Sterling 15th, Riyad Mahrez 20th, Phil Foden 25th and Ruben Dias joint-26th.
However, City fans were fuming that the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Harry Kane, and more importantly, England rival Mason Mount, all finished ahead of Foden in voting for the Ballon d’Or.
Foden has come to the fore as one of the most exciting prospects in world football and with his performances so far, it’s imaginable his position is further up the list next year.
Personally, Foden also collected the PFA Young Footballer of the Year last season and was featured in the PFA Team of the Year.
Here’s what some supporters had to say on Twitter about Foden’s ranking in the Ballon d’Or…
what a joke https://t.co/qThRIhi6b0

It's obviously not a fair ranking, or in any way justifiable. But until we make our peace with UEFA, these types of situations will continue to happen.
