Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Xavi Hernandez is keen to make Ferran Torres his first signing for FC Barcelona.

The Spain international is facing at least another couple of months out with a foot fracture, but he established himself as a key player under Pep Guardiola in the early stages of the campaign.

When Guardiola spent £21m signing Torres from Valencia in the summer of 2020, there were few signs City were signing a potentially prolific goalscorer.

The 21-year-old talent has emerged as one of City’s best attacking players since arriving from Spain in 2020. The forward hit 13 goals in all competitions last season.

Barcelona have long been linked with the attacker, and various reports had even claimed that the Catalan giants could attempt to sign him on loan in January.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Ferran Torres has emerged as a target for Barcelona, as Xavi Hernández looks to bolster his attack either in January or next summer.

The newly-appointed manager is a big fan of the Spanish international. With the report stating that he likes how Torres is capable of playing in ‘extreme’ environments.

The report was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
