Real Madrid will have to stump up €45million (£38.6m) to sign Manchester City defender Pedro Porro, a report from Spain claims.

The 22-year-old – who is yet to make an appearance for the Citizens since arriving from Girona in 2019 – is currently enjoying the second part of his two-year loan spell with Sporting.

The Primeira Liga champions have the option to sign Porro permanently for a paltry sum of €8.5 million, which they are reportedly expected to trigger shortly.

Record early this month reported that Porro had agreed to sign for Sporting on a permanent deal, with negotiations between both clubs believed to be at an advanced stage.

However it is reported that the La Liga heavyweights are very much interested in signing the 22-year-old Spaniard, but will have to meet the £38.6million release clause in his contract.

As per El Nacional,  Los Blancos have been closely watching Porro’s development for a while now and are looking to make a swoop as they eye a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

Porro is under contract at City until 2025, meaning Madrid are unlikely to sign him at a cheaper price anytime soon.

What now remains to be seen is if Real Madrid are willing to match the €45 million figure to land the Manchester City loanee next year or decide to pursue cheaper alternatives.

Despite flourishing with Sporting, the youngster has previously admitted that Pep Guardiola has never spoken to him. With the defender even saying that he is not sure that the Catalan coach knew that he had signed for the club.
