Report: Man City face Juventus competition for 26-year-old Spanish international

Manchester City could be set to battle with Italian giants Juventus for Spain international Jose Gaya, according to latest transfer rumours.

Gaya has been one of the best left-backs in La Liga and has started this season well for them, amassing two goals and as many assists in ten appearances across all competitions so far.

With Benjamin Mendy currently suspended by the club, Oleksandr Zinchenko is City’s only recognisable left-back at present, though Pep Guardiola has been able to call upon Joao Cancelo to operate in that role.

It is believed the Blues are actively looking at options to bolster the left side of the defence, and currently, it appears Jose Gaya, who continues to raise eyebrows with his displays, is near the top of the list.

According to El Nacional, Spanish international Jose Gaya is drawing attention from Manchester City and Juventus.

The Valencia player, who has previously been linked with both Barcelona and Real Madrid, ‘believes his loyalty has not been rewarded, and is fed up with the owner, Peter Lim, who does what he wants with Valencia’, the report states.

The report claims Gaya is now keen on moving on to a different club where he can play in the UEFA Champions League while also competing for titles on a regular basis.

However it is also reported that Juve is the ‘most likely destination for Gaya’ despite Man City’s interest.

Pep Guardiola is a fan of Gaya and would welcome the chance to add him to the Manchester City roster. The task, however, will not be easy given the interest the player has been garnering across Europe.

Gaya’s contract with Valencia runs till 2023. The defender would only leave the club at the end of the season and not in January, meaning City have time to up their ante in pursuit of the Spaniard and beat Juventus to his signing.
