Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has been nominated for the 2021 BBC Sport Personality of the Year after a sensational year for both club and country.
The England international played a key role as City won a third Premier League crown in four years and a fourth successive Carabao Cup.
On the international stage meanwhile, he was named in the Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament after leading England to their first major final for 55 years in the summer.
The City and England forward is among six leading contenders up for this year’s award, which was won by Lewis Hamilton last year.
Swimmer Tom Daley, boxer Tyson Fury, swimmer Adam Peaty, tennis star Emma Raducanu and Paralympian cyclist Dame Sarah Storey make up an impressive shortlist.
The 26-year-old is the only footballer on the shortlist, with Sterling beating out the likes of England captain Harry Kane and Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford for a place in the SPOTY run-in. will take place during the live event via the BBC’s online portal as well as votes made by phone.
Some Manchester City fans are not sure Sterling has a chance in winning the SPOTY award over the likes of Raducanu and Peaty.
Here’s what some Man City supporters had to say on Twitter…..
Would love him to win it. But it’ll probs be Emma Radacanu

Absurd. Raheem Stirling over Lewis Hamilton and Mark Cavendish. World’s gone crazy @GaryLineker

I mean, congrats to Raz and I love the guy, but let’s be honest he hasn’t got a chance with Raducanu, Fury, Storey or Peaty being nominated against him

either Emma or Tyson winning this, for some reason can’t see Raheem winning it
