Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is keeping tabs on Arsenal summer signing Nuno Tavares following his impressive start to the season.
The north Londoners signed Tavares in the summer for a reported £8.5million on a long-term contract. The 21-year-old has done so well that he briefly displaced the consistently superb Kieran Tierney in the Arsenal XI.
According to ESPN, City have watched Tavares on several occasions and he has been marked out as a player of interest, although the Premier League champions are likely to wait until the summer to make any formal offer.
Tavares has featured 14 times between the Premier League and EFL Cup so far this season. He has provided one assist but has impressed with his all-round performances.
The full-back spot in particular remains an issue throughout Pep Guardiola’s time at the club. The reigning Premier League champions are still on the hunt for a left-back With Benjamin Mendy currently suspended by the club.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is City’s only recognisable left-back at present, though Pep Guardiola has been able to call upon Joao Cancelo to operate in that role.
Despite the success of Cancelo this season at left-sided full-back, it appears as though Manchester City’s long-term recruitment plans will feature the signing of a new player in that position.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Makes sense. He’s a baller that just needs a real coach. Has all the attributes for success https://t.co/cJNFcrglpa
