Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will not replace Ferran Torres in the January transfer window with a striker following the attacker’s £46.7 million move to FC Barcelona this week.

Pep Guardiola’s side have continued to defy the odds, by operating with a false nine system while sitting at the top of the Premier League and booking a Champions League round of 16 place with a game to spare.

Ferran Torres move to Barcelona has made City fans hopeful that the money raised could be spent on finally bringing a top-class centre-forward to the club to replace the former Valencia winger this January transfer window.

According to ESPN, the Premier League leaders have taken the surprising decision to not pursue a replacement for the 21-year-old Spaniard in the New Year.

However, It is stated that Etihad officials will not immediately spend the £46.7 million generated through the sale of Torres and instead, use it to boost their bid to sign a striker in the summer.

The report claims Man City still hold an interest in Harry Kane, while Erling Haaland is also among their list of targets, with the duo likely to be on the move at the end of this season.

The report was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
