‘He’s not coming guys’, ‘we’re fighting a lost battle’ – Erling Haaland claim has Many Man City fans talking

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will go all-out in their attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland next summer.

Having missed out on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane earlier this year, the Norwegian goal machine is reportedly next Pep Guardiola’s ‘primary striker target’ as he looks for a new No 9 after the departure of Sergio Aguero last summer.

The Dortmund talisman has become one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market since making his breakthrough at Red Bull Salzburg a couple of years ago.

Haaland, who remains under contract with the Black and Yellow until 2024, has already netted 19 goals in 16 appearances for Dortmund this term despite injury concerns.

Such remarkable progress in Germany has invariably put the Norwegian goal machine on the radars of many European football clubs, with Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid among his suitors.

City are likely to be near the front of the queue, and The Athletic have claimed that they have placed Haaland at the top of their transfer plans.

The report claims City will ‘push hard’ to snap up Haaland, and that they are planning to hold talks with the ace’s representatives over the coming weeks and months.

The Athletic also say that Real Madrid are viewed as City’s main rivals for the Norway international, but they would struggle financially to sign Haaland as well as Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

In light to the update on Haaland, many Man City fans have reacted – here are some of the best responses.
