Manchester City have been left fuming over a remark that former Liverpool player Jim Beglin made over the weekend.
Beglin, who was on co-comms alongside Peter Drury for City’s clash with Chelsea, labelled the Etihad Stadium the ‘Emptyhead’. The term is often used by rival fans to take a swipe at City.
Beglin issued an apology over Twitter after the full-time whistle: “I have the greatest respect for Manchester City Football Club.
“In no way was my verbal error today intended to cause City fans any offence.”
However, officials at the Premier League champions are believed to be unimpressed, and the Daily Mail say City complained to the in-house broadcaster, Premier League Productions, while the match was ongoing.
The report states that City have a long-held belief that they do not get fair representation in a media landscape short on ex-former players.
In reaction to the news shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Many Man City fans react have been sharing their thoughts and opinions.

It was full house tbh.
Why did he say that?
I was trying to get the tickets but it was only available for season holders!
That means it was already sold out.— Tevez32boss (@Tevez32boss) January 16, 2022
This type of thing has been coming. All season long BT has covered our games with a sour, miserable, biased outlook. Beglin says it was a mistake, how many people genuinely believe that? It was unprofessional but actually goes with the trend BT have been showing.

Honestly don’t think it’s worth reporting at all. It’s unprofessional from Beglin but it’s pretty meaningless https://t.co/5iNrrYYBPS
