‘Joining Klopp at Excuse FC’, ‘must be a German thing’ – Man City fans react as Thomas Tuchel names two key reasons for poor PL title bid

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has claimed Manchester City’s phenomenal form isn’t the reason they have pulled away from their competitors in the title race – instead claiming that injuries and COVID-19 problems at Stamford Bridge are the issue.

Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off will see Manchester City and Chelsea go head-to-head at the Etihad.

This clash between first and second in the Premier League represents something of a last chance for Tuchel’s side to breathe life back into the title race

The tie is of huge importance to both sides when it comes to the 2021/22 PL title race. Chelsea head into the game sat a full 10 points adrift of Man City with 21 games played each.

Should they lose on Saturday and that gap widen to 13, you would have to assume that, even if Thomas Tuchel’s side play well for the rest of the campaign, they would not be able to overturn such a deficit.

As Thomas Tuchel addressed the media on Friday lunchtime, when asked if defeat at the Etihad Stadium would put City out of sight in the title race, he accepted it is a possibility.

The German coach added: ‘Maybe, who knows. They have dealt better with injuries and the Covid situation.’

‘Maybe it’s luck or they do it better. They have had less injuries and less weeks they missed them. They did not suffer from Covid as we did over many weeks, this is the huge difference.’

These Tuchel’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters.
