Dutch club NAC Breda have announce they are on verge of joining City Football Group widely known as the CFG.
The football group currently owns significant stakes in football clubs in all of England, Spain, France, Japan, the USA, Uruguay, the Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, India, and China.
There have been many stories recently about Manchester City’s owners wanting to buy Atlético Mineiro, and now it seems the next club to join their ranks is NAC Breda.
The Dutch club announced on Wednesday that they are on the verge of joining the City Football Group.
“After the Supervisory Board (SB) rejected the sale to Karel Vrolijk on 19 February and requested that all other options be explored, we recently conducted research at the request of the shareholders into the initiatives City Football Group and a combination between Global Football Corporation and Karel Vrolijk,” they wrote on their official website.
“We assessed these parties on the basis of the criteria set by the Supervisory Board, the NOAD Foundation and the KNVB. This includes criteria such as a healthy balance between local involvement and business distance, the football background, football vision and the football plan, financial capacity in the short and long term, maintenance of the golden share, the statutes and the culture charter, leadership, certainty on the area of continuation and thus continuity, the origin of the financial resources, the UBO of the stakeholders and their intentions.”
“We presented the results of our investigation to the shareholders. On that basis, they have chosen to sell their shares to City Football Group. All other parties that have applied since the start of the sales process have now been informed and thanked for their efforts.
“With City Football Group, which already has a long-term collaboration with NAC, an agreement was reached this week subject to approval by the Supervisory Board, NOAD Foundation, the KNVB and the municipality of Breda.
“With this, the sales process is entering the final phase and the shareholders and City Football Group assume that preparations for the new season can be started in the short term.”
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
