‘No cap Kevin on point’, ‘knows ball’ – Man City Fans react as De Bruyne delivers honest verdict on Jack Grealish

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has dismisses the importance of stats and emphasises on the role Jack Grealish has played since arriving at the club.

Grealish has struggled to replicate his best form at Manchester City since his British-record £100million move from Aston Villa. But he scored against Peterborough in the FA Cup on Tuesday, and then started at The Etihad.

The £100million record signing had his best game for the Blues on Sunday. While he did not record a goal or an assist, Grealish took a big part in the demolition of Manchester United in the derby, playing a key role in De Bruyne’s two goals.

Kevin De Bruyne has stated that Jack Grealish was a key cog against Manchester United at the weekend, and has done well on the pitch since his move from Aston Villa last summer.

“My feeling is that Jack has been playing good,” said De Bruyne.

“In this day and age, if you’re a winger or attacker people say goals and assists are very important. But he carries a threat, he creates spaces so much for other people.

“It’s not something you always see. He attracts so many defenders and the rest of us can sometimes benefit from that. He’s been doing well, then he had a little injury but now he’s back and we’re very happy to have him back.”

Even though United were miles off it, City were excellent. Grealish was at the heart of that and more performances like this will prove to the club and its fans that he is worth the enormous outlay that City paid last summer.

These De Bruyne’s comments on Grealish were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“If you watched him Sunday you’d see what a huge influence he had on the game. Was involved in at least 2 of the goals with his movement and link up play. £100m spent and you’re 10th mate.”
