‘Rest him Southgate’, ‘No point in risking him’ – Man City fans react to John Stones Fitness Update

John Stones‘ pre-game injury ahead of England vs Switzerland seemingly not as serious as first feared, which is welcome news given the initial pre-game fears with Ruben Dias still recovering from a hamstring injury.

It has been revealed that Stones suffered tightness in his adductor and could be back for England’s game against the Ivory Coast on Tuesday night.

Speaking after the victory against Switzerland on Saturday night, Gareth Southgate told broadcasters that John Stones ‘felt tightness’ during the warm-up ahead of the match, and despite the problem, could be involved on Tuesday against Ivory Coast.

The England manager said in full, “He felt something in the warm-up. We don’t think it’s too serious. It’s possible he could be okay for Tuesday (against Ivory Coast), but we didn’t have time to assess it properly before the game (against Switzerland), so we didn’t want to take any chance.”

An additional reporting from TNT Sports Journalist Fred Caldeira also clarified, much to the relief of Pep Guardiola and Manchester City supporters, that John Stones’ problem is ‘not too serious’.

As per Fred Caldeira, the first impression of John Stones’ injury is that the problem is ‘mild’, and subsequently, there is ‘less worry’ for Manchester City.

Reacting to the update, many Man City fans hope Stones is not risked on Tuesday, with crucial fixtures coming up for the Premier League champions. Here is what City fans have been saying.
