‘We are signing striker finally’, ‘he’s joining us for sure’ – Erling Haaland’s fresh transfer update has Many Man City fans talking

Plenty of Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays updates on the future of Borussia Dortmund superstar.

The 21-year-old striker has been widely tipped to seek a new challenge elsewhere ahead of next season, with City joining a whole host of top clubs with a shared interest in securing his signature.

Having missed out on a deal for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane earlier this year, the Norwegian goal machine is reportedly next Pep Guardiola’s ‘primary striker target’ as he looks for a new No 9 after the departure of Sergio Aguero last summer.

Haaland is widely expected to leave the German club this summer, due to a clause in his contract which means Dortmund would be forced to entertain offers.

The exact size of the Norwegian’s exit clause is unclear, but is understood to be in the region of £63m (€75m) and £84m (€100m).

Haaland, who remains under contract with the Black and Yellow until 2024, has already netted 23 goals in 20 appearances for Dortmund this term despite injury concerns.

Such remarkable progress in Germany has invariably put the Norwegian goal machine on the radars of many European football clubs.

And according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City held secret talks with Haaland’s agent Raiola in February over a transfer this summer.

Fabrizio claim Txiki Begiristain – the Etihad club’s Director of Football had a direct meeting with Mino Raiola in Monaco regarding Haaland.

City have a ‘strong interest’ in the striker and are ‘really serious’ about signing him, reports Fabrizio Romano, but it is mentioned that Barcelona also recently met with the agent about the 21-year-old despite the Blaugrana having serious financial problems.
