Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano has provided a significant update concerning the future of Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager.
The Spaniard is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2023 and could extend that, but expects to work elsewhere at some point in the future.
Since his appointment in 2016, Guardiola has extended his stay with the reigning Premier League Champions on two occasions, firstly in 2018 and again in 2020.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Guardiola and City, having previously led Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
According to the information of Fabrizio Romano, while speaking during an episode on his YouTube channel, Man City board does not see Guardiola’s future as an issue, and hope to discuss a new deal with the Spaniard.
As per the Journalist, the manager is involved in the strategy around new signings as of today and agents who have had talks with the club feel that Guardiola is only focused on the Man City project.
It is further stated that the feeling within Man City’s board is that Guardiola will continue as the club’s long-term manager, with the former Barcelona boss ‘super happy’ with his position.
“The feeling around the (Manchester City) board is that Pep (Guardiola) will continue long-term as Manchester City manager. They are super happy with him, he is super happy with Manchester City – of course, results are something important; at the end, this is how you judge a manager,” Romano said.
