Football agent Mino Raiola has died aged 54, a statement released via his social media channels has announced. The news comes after false reports that he had died a number of days ago.
Raiola is regarded as one of the most prominent agents in world football, having represented the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and the in-demand Erling Haaland at various points.
The statement, written by his family, read: “In infinite sorrow, we share the passing of the most caring and amazing football agent that ever was. Mino fought until the end with the same strength he put on negotiation tables to defend our players. As usual, Mino made us proud and never realised it.
“Mino touched so many lives through his work and wrote a new chapter in the history of modern football. His presence will forever be missed. Mino’s mission of making football a better place for players will continue with the same passion.”
Paris St-Germain are among those paying tribute, releasing the following statement on Twitter: “Mino Raiola, charismatic sports agent, passed away today following an illness. The club, through its president, sends its condolences to his family and loved ones.”
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
