‘They’re gonna have to wait’, ‘He ain’t leaving till 2030’ – Many fans react as Pep Guardiola offered Man City exit with ‘£10m a year’ deal

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola has been offered the chance to take his ‘dream’ first step into international football, with Brazil willing to pay him £10million per year to become their new manager.

Under contract at Manchester City until the summer of 2023, the Catalan coach is yet to reach an agreement to prolong his stay at the Etihad Stadium and is now said to be a prime target for one of the biggest roles in international football.

The prospect of one day swapping club management for the challenge of taking responsibility of a country at major tournaments is something the City coach spoke of at the beginning of the current season, refusing to rule out this as a possibility.

“The next step will be a national team, yes, if there’s a chance,” he admitted. “I must have a break after seven years (at City), I need to stop to watch, learn from other players and maybe that is the road I will take. … I would like to coach at the Euros, a Copa America, a World Cup.”

With current boss Tite publicly admitting that he is set to leave his post after the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in December, Spanish outlet Marca reports that Brazil are now eyeing a foreign coach, with the Manchester City manager considered to be the ‘ideal person’.

The report adds that the Brazilian Football Confederation have ‘made contact’ with Guardiola’s brother and agent, Pere, to put forward the offer of a four-year deal, with a proposed salary of around €12M net.

Brazil would hope that the former Barcelona boss could led them in the 2024 Copa America and stay until at least the 2026 World Cup in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
