Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club will turn their attentions to the signing of a midfielder this summer, if and when they wrap up the ongoing transfer saga concerning Erling Haaland.

The Blues are trying to sign the Borussia Dortmund striker as they look to belatedly replace Sergio Aguero in their team, having failed to land a marquee forward in the last summer transfer window.

Since the beginning of March, a series of reports from England, Spain and Germany have deemed Pep Guardiola’s side to be the frontrunners in the race to sign Haaland when his release clause worth £63 million gets activated this summer.

Italian transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported this week that City are pushing for the signing of Haaland and are making ‘big efforts’ to land the Norway international in the summer.

According to the latest information from the Italian transfer insider, once the Erling Haaland saga is wrapped up, one way or another, the Etihad club will then focus their attention on bringing in a new midfielder.

Club captain Fernandinho revealed on Tuesday that he will likely be leaving the club at the end of the season, which will leave Rodri as the only defensive midfielder.

As a result, City are scouring the market for potential replacements. The club have been linked to a variety of top midfield prospects around the world in recent months.
