‘Best destination for him’, ‘will be their best player’ – Man City fans react as Arsenal prepare bid to sign star forward this summer

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Arsenal are ready to explore a move for Raheem Sterling, should he become available this summer.

Sterling showed his worth to City by scoring twice in the 5-0 win over Newcastle which sent Pep Guardiola’s side three points clear at the top of the Premier League table on Sunday.

But he could be the subject of transfer interest this summer as he is about to enter the final year of his contract and is yet to make a decision on his long-term future with the club.

The attacker’s current contract at the Etihad expires in 2023, meaning he could begin negotiations about a potential free move away from City in just nine months’ time.

Many clubs are looking to capitalise on his devalued price, and according to The Telegraph, Arsenal are ready to explore a move for the England international, should he become available this summer.

Mikel Arteta worked closely with Sterling when he was a coach at City under Guardiola, and the report claim he is behind the Gunners’ interest in the 27-year-old.

Arsenal have won their last four games and are on course to finish in fourth place to earn a spot in next season’s Champions League. That factor, plus Arteta’s willingness to build his attack around Sterling, could prove tempting to the England international.
