Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Riyad Mahrez is a top transfer target for Serie A leaders AC Milan this summer.
The 31-year-old has been one of the most enigmatic attackers in the Premier League over the past half a dozen years. He has been in ‘sparkling’ form this season and is their leading goalscorer with 23 goals in 43 matches in all competitions.
However, with less than 18 months left on the Algerian’s existing deal at the Etihad Stadium, reports have claimed that a number of elite European clubs are monitoring Mahrez’s contract situation in Manchester ahead of a potential departure in the summer.
With Milan on the verge of being bought by a Bahrain backed fund, there could be some heavy investment emanating from San Siro this summer, and the £36m-rated star is said to be a target for them.
According to reports by Tuttosport via Milan News, Mahrez has caught the eye of Milan’s new owners, who are looking to invest big in the squad at the San Siro.
Investcorp reportedly plan on making €100m available for player transfers once they take over. Liverpool’s Divock Origi and Lille’s Sven Botman are said to be on their targets list but Mahrez is apparently the man who tops it.
In reaction to the reports shared on Twitter by City Chief, many Man City fans have been expressing their thoughts and opinions.

“One year left on his contract, 31 soon, I’d sell for the right price. No doubt a very good player but if Haaland comes in with Alverez we need to make room”

“Shocked at how many people seem fine with the idea of selling him. 1 bad decision last Tuesday (after he already set up the 1st goal) and all of a sudden we should let him go? Man has been crucial to our ambitions this season. We should offer him at least another 2 seasons..”
