‘Massive win’, ‘love this so much’ – Man City fans react as Pep Guardiola plan for Julián Álvarez will not change despite the Signing of Erling Haaland

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola plan for Julián Álvarez will not change despite the arrival of Erling Haaland.

The 22-year-old forward signed for the Citizens in January before returning to River Plate on loan, where he is currently set to stay until December 31.

Pep Guardiola’s side are believed to have a €1.5m option if they wish to fast-track the forward into their first-team squad this summer.

Pep Guardiola has stated earlier this year that Alvarez ‘will be with us’ in the summer for pre-season, but with the arrival of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, there has been speculation to suggest that City may look to keep the forward in his homeland until 2023.

According to Argentine journalists Dani López as relayed by All About Argentina, after signing Erling Haaland, Guardiola’s plan for Julián Álvarez will not change.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has asked for Alvarez to join Man City training from next season and wants him to adapt to his ideas, to count on him during the campaign.

The report states that he will have a complete preseason to adapt to Man City and, although knows he’ll not be starter from beggining, Guardiola counts on him as alternative.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Guarantee he’ll transition him to play all three forward positions.”

“Alvarez is Jesus replacement while Haaland is Aguero’s replacement, so in real sense they can co-exist together”

“Then most likely Pep Guardiola will have dual strikers in Alvarez and Haaland. We might see Haaland as CF, Julian as LW, Foden drop into midfield with Bernardo’s departure, and Mahrez/Sterling/Palmer as RW.
Not gonna lie that sound sweet 💙”
