‘Absolutely horrendous decision’, ‘why? Let him go already!’ – Many Man City fans react to Fabrizio Romano update on star forward

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club would like to extend Raheem Sterling’s contract as soon as possible.

The 27-year-old England international could be the subject of transfer interest this summer, with clubs looking to capitalise on his devalued price, and he has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium in the last week.

The attacker’s current contract at the Etihad expires in 2023, meaning he could begin negotiations about a potential free move away from City in just nine months’ time.

With the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham strongly speculated with making a move for the three-time Premier League champion during the coming summer transfer window, new details have emerged claiming Pep Guardiola’s side are not willing to let him go.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City would like to extend Raheem Sterling’s contract as soon as possible, with Pep Guardiola wanting the player to stay – but negotiations are still not easy.

As per the Journalist, it makes sense that City could sell Jesus but keep Sterling reason being that Haaland is surely coming in to be the first choice centre-forward for Pep, and that will limit Jesus’ playing time.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“No why we’re trying so hard to keep him & letting Jesus leave. He’s dropped disasterclasses every other game for the past 2 years.”

“Foden / Haaland / Sterling is City’s best front three if he stays. A proper #9 up top will revitalise him. I really hope he stays, he’s suffered the most of any player with the false 9 system.”

“He actually played well last night, but there was a feeling that he looked abit out of place, I can’t put my finger on exactly why, just didn’t feel right.”

“I just want to see Sterling back with an out-and-out striker. He’s done bits for this team especially with his pace and movement. And you can see the impact he has for England.”

“I don’t see why everyone cares. Sterling is brilliant, he needs to work on his finishing and instead of getting behind him, our fanbase is slandering him. Come on, we’re better than that.”

“He’s done so much for us, and he should be respected for it. However, I can’t fathom how he has justified another contract offer?! Surely it’s time to move on. He may prove everyone wrong next season, but as of now, this seems like lunacy..”
