Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays an update on the club’s pursuit of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes.

The 23-year-old midfield maestro, who has starred for Sporting in the Portuguese top flight this season, has also attracted Premier League attention for his performances.

With Fernandinho looking set to leave them this summer, Pep Guardiola is keen to sign a midfielder at the end of this campaign. Man City have reportedly turned their attention towards Nunes as a result and have identified him as a suitable target.

It’s was reported last week that Pep Guardiola’s side lead the race for Matheus Nunes and are waiting for the end of the Primeira Liga season to ‘advance’ with €40M for a transfer.

According to Newspaper Ojogo as relayed by Sport Witness, Matheus Nunes has seen his price has go up ‘like an arrow’ through his Sporting/Portugal performances.

The report states that Sporting Lisbon will ‘do everything’ to keep him, and only ‘truly irrefutable offers’ could take him from the club.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from Man City supporters.
