‘What a lie’, ‘He’s untouchable!’ – Some Man City fans react to report that claims Aymeric Laporte ‘has always wanted’ to join Barcelona

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Aymeric Laporte has a desire to join Barcelona.

Laporte, 27, has become a key member of Pep Guardiola’s backline again this season after falling out of favour in the previous campaign.

The Spaniard has built a rock-solid partnership with Ruben Dias at the back, helping the Sky Blues to top the Premier League standings.

last summer saw Laporte being linked with a surprise transfer to Barcelona despite the club’s difficult financial situation. They continue to be strongly linked with the defender but are unlikely to be able to afford an outright deal.

According to COPE journalist Victor Nahe in an exclusive interview with Barça Daily, Aymeric Laporte, who spent the early parts of his career in Spain with Athletic Club, has always wanted to join FC Barcelona.

However, as per the Journalist, in order for a move to materialize, Laporte himself must try to push out of Manchester City as Barcelona do not want to pay a high fee for a center-back.

Laporte’s contract with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2025. Considering the club’s deep pockets, even if he leaves, Guardiola will have Ruben Dias, John Stones and Nathan Ake as options at centre-back.

The report was shared on Twitter, and it attracted plenty of attention from the fans, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the speculation.
