Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola is keen to give Cole Palmer more game time on the right wing next season.

The 2021/2022 campaign has been one that has again showcased the talent coming through the ranks within the Manchester City academy, developing players from both the local area and from further afield.

This season alone has seen the likes of Cole Palmer shine in the first-team set-up, while the likes of Luke Mbete, James McAtee, and Romeo Lavia have all impressed during training sessions lead by Guardiola.

Talented duo Palmer and James McAtee have recently been linked with a move from the Etihad with Southampton reportedly very keen to secure a summer move for the Manchester City duo.

According to Paul Hirst writing for Times Sport, Pep Guardiola is keen to keep Cole Palmer and give him more game time on the right wing for Manchester City next season.

It is a testament to Palmer’s potential that Guardiola saw it fit to hand him his senior debuts recently. As an attacking midfielder capable of playing in several positions, the 20-year-old youngster has made 13 appearances for the Citizens, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“He’s literally a mini Mahrez, and probs a lot closer to being ready than people realise.”

“He is going to take over the spot in 2-3 years. Future YPOTY. He’s got Mahrez skills but he grew up on the city system. I often get upset with Riyad for not passing the ball or taking too long. Palmer doesn’t do this because he’s been playing city ball for 5+ years.”

“This is great news…I personally think he offers a lot more variety than Mahrez & has a bit more pace to beat the man. He’s also got a bit of arrogance which I like & a great finish..”
