Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have named their asking price for Bernardo Silva to join FC Barcelona.
After five years in the Premier League he feels like his cycle has finished in England. The 27-year-old Portuguese international would like to leave City in the current summer transfer window for personal reasons, with Barca his dream club.
The Portuguese midfielder is a key target for Barcelona, with manager Xavi said to be ‘obsessed’ with the 27-year-old.
Despite Pep Guardiola reiterating that the Citizens wish to keep hold of the former SL Benfica and AS Monaco midfielder, the speculations refuse to go away.
This time it is Diario AS in Spain who claim Manchester City have put a non-negotiable price tag of €80M on Bernardo Silva, therefore putting the player out of Barcelona’s reach.
The newspaper explains that Pep Guardiola does not want to lose an important asset this summer, and even though Silva would be happy to leave Manchester City for the Catalan side, the club have made it clear he won’t leave on the cheap.
Despite claims that Man City could register an interest in Frenkie De Jong, as per the report, the Premier League champions are also not interested in any Barcelona players to bring the price down.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
“That price tag has to be a joke! Nothing less than £100m and even that is not enough imo, he has 3 years left on his contract.”
