‘We shouldn’t go more than £50m’, ‘is just to much’ – Many fans react to Man City’s transfer fee belief in Marc Cucurella chase

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club believe they will not have to meet Brighton’s valuation of Marc Cucurella in order to sign the player this summer.

The Premier League champions have made Brighton & Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella one of their primary summer transfer targets as Pep Guardiola looks to strengthen the left side of his title winning back line.

Cucurella has made quite the impression since arriving at the Amex Stadium last August in a £15m deal from Getafe. He started every Premier League game following his signing and ended the season being voted both Seagulls’ Supporters’ Player of and Players’ Player of the Year.

It was an outstanding debut campaign in which he helped Brighton to ninth spot in the Premier League table, their highest ever finish in English football.

City’s interest therefore comes as no surprise. Neither does the price tag slapped on Cucurella by Albion chairman Tony Bloom, which stands at £50m – a figure that will not be lowered and could see the champions walk away from negotiations.

As per a report from Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian, Manchester City ‘believe’ a £40 million would prove ‘enough’ to get the deal over the line.

Additionally, it has been claimed that the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle United are also ‘interested’ in the highly-rated defender, but the player’s ‘first-choice’ remains a move to East Manchester.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Get it done. We would easily raise 30m on Zinchenko alone. 40-50m for Cucurella, just make the deal, he’s so so good 🌟🔥.”
