‘Awful decision if true,’ ‘too risky’ – Some Man City fans not excited by Pep Guardiola’s Cole Palmer plan

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola is keen to give Cole Palmer more game time on the right wing next season.

It is a testament to Palmer’s potential that Guardiola saw it fit to hand him his senior debuts recently. As an attacking midfielder capable of playing in several positions, the 20-year-old youngster has made 13 appearances for the Citizens, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

A nagging injury brought a frustrating and premature end to Palmer’s progress this season, but the level of performance he showed in the first half of the campaign has more than ever convinced the decision-makers at the club of his bright future in Manchester.

For next season, Palmer will take the Phil Foden route to first-team football of staying in Manchester close to Pep Guardiola in the first-team squad rather than going out on loan.

According to Jack Gaughan writing for the Daily Mail, Cole Palmer will act as Riyad Mahrez’s understudy on the right for Manchester City, while Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden can both operate there too.

Jack states that City supporters may just embrace the risk if it means Palmer — a homegrown product who joined the academy as a child — can flourish in a similar vein to Foden.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

This is one of the best squad we are about to have, but all people have complains one after another despite the club spending big almost every window. Do Liverpool have 6 different forward options? 6 midfield options?
BIG NO, so relax People.”
