Erling Braut Haaland scored two goals for Manchester City against West Ham and former Premier league strikers Gary Lineker and ex Liverpool star Michael Owen gave their verdicts.

The Manchester City forward was in action for his Premier League debut against West Ham. He scored twice as City ran out 2-0 winners at the London Stadium.

Haaland’s first goal came from the penalty spot, after he was fouled by substitute goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. His second was the result of a Kevin De Bruyne through ball, shortly before he was replaced by Julian Alvarez.

The 22-year-old’s arrival on the English stage has already won plaudits from some of the most famous names in football.

Former Anfield striker Owen was quick to hand out praise to Haaland on Twitter. The ex-Reds front man went on to send a message to Liverpool and all other teams in the Premier League that they should be wary of Man City’s new signing.

“This guy is an absolute goal scoring machine,” wrote Owen. “If this is the sign of things to come, every defence in the Premier League needs to be worried.”

Lineker was in agreement with Owen with his verdict on Haaland. The BBC pundit went on to provide a goal prediction for the Man City striker.

“He’s unstoppable is Erling Haaland,” wrote Lineker on Twitter. “A proper striker whose goal scoring numbers will be huge. A truly prodigious talent.”

Other Twitter users have voiced their positive opinions on Haaland’s star power, even if it broke their hearts during the 90 minutes.

One West Ham fan said: ‘Scary how good Haaland is. His movement is unreal. Gonna score buckets with ease in this team.’

Someone else tipped the talented Norwegian to be a record breaker this season. ‘Haaland is an absolute monster if he stays fit he breaks the premier league goalscoring record in a single season no doubt,’ they stated.

It remains to be seen if the Norwegian can turn this promising start into a lengthy streak, but he will be hoping to keep it up in his competitive home debut next Saturday against Bournemouth.
