Despite reports claiming that Bernardo Silva is all set to stay put at Manchester City, Gerard Romero insists that the Portuguese could still move to Barcelona before the transfer window closes.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for the Portuguese international, in an €80m switch to Catalonia, as part of a squad rebuild taking place at the Camp Nou.
Pep Guardiola has constantly reiterated his determination to keep Silva at the Etihad Stadium with the former AS Monaco star playing a key role for the Premier League champions.
However, rumors have continued to buzz suggesting the Portuguese international could move to the Camp Nou if Barcelona were able to move Frenkie de Jong on, or even, perhaps, if they could get other player sales.
Having entered the final week of the transfer window, Man City manager Pep Guardiola provided a definitive update on Silva’s future, confirming that the playmaker will be staying at the Etihad Stadium.
But, Gerard Romero is now insisting that despite all the speculations and rumours, Barça have not given up their pursuit of Silva and still have a plan in place which they could activate to secure his signing from Man City.
According to Gerard Romero as relayed by Manchester Evening News, although City are keen to keep hold of the player, especially after coming off the back of two strong seasons, they could let him leave if Barcelona meet their demands.
That would be unlikely though, with Barcelona in the midst of a financial crisis, and perhaps being forced into selling Frenkie de Jong and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in the next two days.
