Report: Man City and Barcelona ‘agree fee’ of less than €80m for Bernardo Silva

Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement over the transfer fees for Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva, with the amount said to be less than €80 million.

The Portugal international has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona this summer. However, given the situation surrounding the registration of new players as well as the reluctance of Frenkie de Jong to leave, a move had looked difficult.

But it seems like the Blaugrana have made some major progress in their pursuit of the 27-year-old midfielder.

As per Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, the two clubs have now agreed on a price for the midfielder, believed to be around €50-€55m (£42m-£46.5m).

Also, Portuguese reporter, Pedro Almedia has also reported the clubs have ‘reached an agreement’ on the transfer.

It comes as a surprise, considering that reports earlier had indicated that the Premier League champions would want around €100 million for their gun midfielder, but seem to have settled for much lesser.

The journalist had claimed on Monday that Silva had already started looking for a house in Barcelona, indicating that a move might be close to completion.

The 27-year-old’s prospective exit would come as a major blow to City after scoring 13 goals in 50 appearances last term, providing relentless energy and technical ability in the middle of the park.

The Portugal international came off the bench on Sunday as City opened their Premeir League season with a 2-0 win over West Ham United.
