Manchester City are planning to sit down with Bernardo Silva to discuss his future before they finalise plans for strengthening their midfield next summer.
Silva is one of the top players in Pep Guardiola’s team, having helped them win four Premier League titles, four League Cups and one FA Cup during his five years at the club.
He has started this season in fine form too, as he has scored two goals and assisted three more in his seven Premier League appearances.
The Catalan club tried taking the midfielder in the previous two summers but didn’t end up making an offer, neither to him nor to Pep Guardiola’s side.
According to National Sport, The Blues are adamant that no club approached them for Bernardo Silva in the summer, and no one called. Instead, Man City officials were left to read reports like everyone else.
The report adds that Man City are ready to sit down with Bernardo Silva to discuss his future, and will make it abundantly clear that they want him to stay at the club.
A separate report from Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail states that talks with Silva are expected to take place over the coming months to thrash out his future,
The report claims Pep Guardiola’s side will not stand in his way if he still wanted to leave the club next summer, and they received an offer of more than £80M.
Bernardo’s contract runs until June 2025, meaning next summer could be the last window that City get to make decent money from his sale.
City are aware of Bernardo Silva’s situation but need to know his plans for next summer before they can sign off on midfield transfer targets.
Sporting director Txiki Begiristain as per the report is drawing up a list of a few potential replacements for Silva should the club part company with the Portuguese.
