Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Brighton & Hove Albion demanded a player-swap during talks with the Club over Marc Cucurella.
Marc Cucurella was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City this summer and he even handed in a transfer request to force through a move.
The Spaniard had a very impressive season with the Seagulls and with City selling Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, it meant they were light on left-backs.
However, Man City had multiple bids rejected by Brighton and it opened the door for Chelsea to get the deal done. Instead, Man City signed talented Anderlecht star Sergio Gomez to come in at left-back.
Some people questioned why the Spaniard did not join Manchester City, but Fabrizio Romano has now revealed the reason a move up north never materialised.
According to the information of the transfer insider, Brighton had asked for Julian Alvarez on a season-long loan during negotiations with Man City for Marc Cucurella in the summer.
Unsurprisingly however, the answer from Manchester City is described as being ‘very clear’, as Etihad negotiators responded with a firm, ‘No way’ to the request.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
