Gary Neville has shared that ‘Arsenal are making me doubt’ in the Premier League title race, but he is still sticking with Manchester City, as he told Sky Sports.
Arsenal continued to defy their doubters in the race for the Premier League title, taking full advantage of Manchester City’s slipup against Brentford to beat Wolves at Molineux and add a five-point gap between themselves and Pep Guardiola’s chasing pack.
In 13 matches, Arsenal have 34 points before playing Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. Manchester City have 32 points in 14 matches to follow the Gunners.
The Manchester United legend is refusing to budge from his previous position that Pep Guardiola’s side will win the title by a margin of ’15 points’, despite their defeat to Brentford on Saturday.
Upon Premier League football resuming, Neville thinks it will be normal service at the Etihad and they will walk away with the Premier League title.
“I said last week that I think Man City would win the title by 15 points and I am going to hang in there with that prediction,” said Neville.
“Arsenal fans are killing me, at the moment. I think they are absolutely fantastic. They are the best team in the league in the first 14 games of the season by a mile.
“I was there for the very first game of the season against Crystal Palace. The first 25 minutes, it was electrifying that football between those front players and they have actually maintained that all the way through.
“They are really, really good, at the moment, Arsenal. They have got a spirit. They have got a togetherness. They have got great football – I don’t think they will win the title. I think Man City will. I do think they will get into the top four.
“I still think it will be interesting come sort of February/March with Arsenal where they end up. I still think there is an element of they still have to prove themselves. I will say it time and time again until they show me different – I think Man City will win the league by 15 points. I genuinely think that. But Arsenal are making me doubt that and that’s a good think because we want a title race.”
TITLE RACE
In our opinion, Arsenal are very much in contention for the Premier League title this season, and Manchester City have to be careful.
Yes, City have the best team in England right now, but it is Arsenal who will head into the World Cup break at the top of the standings.
Considering the Gunners have barely put a foot wrong so far, you wouldn’t bet against them picking up from where they’ve left off when play resumes on Boxing Day.
