Manchester City and RB Leipzig will do battle in the last-16 of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League.
The two sides were paired with each other in Monday’s draw and it’s an outcome those associated with City will be reasonably happy with.
Pep Guardiola’s side could have faced a star-studded Paris Saint-Germain side instead, as they finished behind Benfica in their group.
But it’s City against Leipzig, with the first leg to be played at the Red Bull Arena on February 14. The match at the Etihad Stadium is scheduled to take place on March 7th.
The admin of the Bundesliga club’s English-speaking Twitter account made that very clear with a brilliant post in the immediate aftermath of Monday’s draw.
They wrote “looking forward to it, Man City!”, accompanied by a Ralph Wiggum meme which kind of sums up their predicament perfectly.

What is Man City’s record vs Leipzig?
The two teams actually played each other for the first time in last season’s Champions League group stage.
At the Etihad, City won 6-3 in what was a bona fide thriller, but they came unstuck out in Germany.
Guardiola’s side lost 2-1, with Kyle Walker shown a straight red card late on in the match.
But despite the fact they achieved a victory over City in 2021/22, Leipzig are clearly still fearful about facing the English champions – which is understandable to be honest.
