Manchester City have secured the signing of Brentford analyst Jack Wilson, who will be joining the club’s first-team operation in the coming weeks, a new report has revealed.

Wilson has work with Brentford over the past few seasons. He also has Hearts, Dundee United and the Northern Ireland national team on his CV.

According to the information of The Athletic‘s David Ornstein, Manchester City will welcome the ‘highly-regarded’ Brentford analyst Jack Wilson, in a role ‘focusing on set pieces’.

Wilson is reportedly due to begin work at the Premier League champions’ training base in east Manchester during the top-flight’s imminent World Cup break.

Man City have managed just two goals from dead-ball situations, and many supporters are hoping that the arrival of Wilson will play a part in adding a different threat to an already frightening attacking set-up.

The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Hopefully now the team will be able to at least test the goalkeeper instead of having 500 corners a game and doing absolutely nothing”

“Good, most set pieces always end up with the keeper catching it comfortably and then us getting countered. We look more vulnerable to concede than the opposition when WE have a corner. Remember at anfield, when Alison caught it and kicked quick to Salah.”

“This would be really useful. We scored the most goals from set pieces in the league last season. Improving that would help especially in games we need to break a deadlock”

“Great move from city side, in the last season we scored lot of goals from set pieces, but now we are struggling in set pieces! So great move”
