Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are now prepared to offer a staggering salary package to Rafael Leao in an attempt to secure the services of the player.
Leao, who has been the subject of intense transfer speculation following his stellar showings in Serie A, has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with many top European clubs thought to be interested in acquiring his services.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, as translated and relayed by Football Italian, AC Milan are facing ‘strong pressure’ from Manchester City in their efforts to retain Rafael Leão at the San Siro.
The report claims Man City have made a ‘sudden surge’ in their contacts with the father of Rafael Leao and are ready to ‘practically double’ his salary to €12 million per season.
However, it is reaffirmed that the Portugal international is still under contract with AC Milan until June 2024, and a January sale remains improbable, despite an offer of over €100 million potentially being enough.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@Hxxlxnd9: Finally will be getting to see a proper winger play for my club again
@Jacob4rmstrong: Even if we get a pre agreement in January I’d be so happy
@BAD_BAD: Txiki masterclass incoming
@MrLuciferous: Our attacks from the wing are a bit lacking tbh, Leao will fit in perfectly
@Clevelandforte: If true deffo needed
@h3mzamcfc: Do whatever it takes to get him. I’m tired of our wingers.
@Emerald_mf: I hope this is true
@GianniButtice: So much better than Grealish
@BenCaunce: Getting him for about £200k a year would not be a bad deal at all considering Grealish is on £300k
@CHRISX73867154: Leao can run faster than all man city players, he will be suitable for that left wing side, great add to the team
