Manchester City have ‘had some conversations’ over the possibility of signing RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old young defender’s immense World Cup form has intensified interest in his signature, with European giants among the heavyweights in the frame.

French outlet FootMercato have claimed that City are already involved in a bidding war for Gvardiol with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Cityzens are said to have offered £85 million plus add-ons, while the Blues and United have tabled bids between £77 million and £82 million for the in-demand centre-back.

Romano has disclosed that both City and La Liga giants Real Madrid have opened dialogue over a potential deal for Gvardiol, although believes a January move is unlikely.

In an interview with GMS, he said: “Manchester City and Real Madrid, they also had some conversations.

“My feeling is that Man City and Real Madrid are interested for next summer, so to prepare something for next summer.”

It’s not yet clear who will win this battle, but it’s certain either one must relinquish a whole load of cash to sign Gvardiol.

Elsewhere, a report from Real EFL (via the Blackpool Gazette) has claimed that City youngster Morgan Rogers will be available for a loan move in January. Last season, the 20-year-old endured a rather torrid spell at AFC Bournemouth.

Having made just 15 appearances for the Cherries, scoring one goal, the Blues forward returned to the Etihad in order to rebuild his form. The report claims that Rogers is now back to a place where City consider him ready for a loan stint.

Blackpool are one of the clubs that are thought to have one eye on Rogers heading into January. The Seasiders are managed by former Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton who was at the club while the Blues youngster enjoyed a successful spell in Lincolnshire.
