Pep Guardiola currently has John Stones, Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji, Aymeric Laporte and Nathan Ake at his disposal. keeping all the existing centre-halves happy ‘will be a major concern’ if Gvardiol signs up.

According to 90min Football, Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake or Aymeric Laporte could quit Man City if the Premier League champions sign Joško Gvardiol in the new year.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“I’m not okay with the idea of selling anyone tbh, Why the hell do we have to sacrifice one of our good defenders who are having different characteristics and been used to our gameplay to bring another cb, what’s the idea?”

“We don’t need Gvardiol, we cannot buy into this world cup hype. Players perform for their countries at the world cup then get a big money move and it turns out to be a waste. We have 5 world class centre backs, why disturb that harmony?”
