Rafael Leao is one of the top young talents in world football right now and it is no surprise that Manchester City are one of the clubs who have been linked with him in recent times.
The Portuguese forward starred at the World Cup as well and there is no doubt that someone like him would be a great addition to most clubs on the planet.
Leao played a key role as AC Milan ended an 11-year wait for a league title last season. He was named the Serie A MVP for his contributions.
He has made a bright start this season as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 7 goals and provided 9 assists in 20 appearances this season across all competitions.
The 23-year-old will be entering the final year of his contract with the Rossoneri next summer and is yet to agree on a new deal. And as per the report from Florian Plettenberg, the forward has no desire to extend his deal beyond the summer of 2024.
Manchester City are known admirers of Leao and are in the race to sign the Milan forward, but will face competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid claims the Sky Sport reporter.
The report indicates that the Blues have already made an approach for the 23-year-old but saw their €70 million offer get knocked back by Milan.
It is further reported that the Serie A champions will demand his entire €150 million release clause be paid if suitors wish to sign him up.
It is hard to imagine Manchester City, or any of the other clubs linked with the Portuguese star, would be willing to match that figure.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
