‘Could be a blessing in disguise’ – Many fans saying same thing as Man City dealt Kevin De Bruyne injury blow ahead of Tottenham fixture

Kevin De Bruyne was absent from Manchester City training ahead of the Blues’ Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

Pep Guardiola’s side are set to welcome Spurs to the Etihad Stadium as the reigning Premier League champions look to force themselves back into the title race.

The home side head into the clash in second; eight points behind table-toppers Arsenal, who extended their lead with a dominant north London derby victory.

Tottenham, who sit fifth and six points behind City, will be eager to bounce back from defeat with a win. However, any points stolen from Guardiola’s side will be bitter-sweet, pushing their local rivals closer towards lifting the Premier League at the end of the season.

Ahead of their next game against Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night, City have received a mixed bag of first-team fitness updates, including an absence in training for Kevin De Bruyne.

According to Sky Sports News, Kevin De Bruyne was absent from training, while Ruben Dias and John Stones returned to action. The reason for De Bruyne’s absence remains to be seen.

The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@Abdul_Moeez4: “At least he’ll get time to regroup and pick himself back up”

@Hughavinalaf2: “Could be a blessing in disguise.”

@ShiMcfc: “Good news that, he needs rest and to sort his head out, then he needs to be back even fitter and stronger!”

@trevsenpai: “We might finally beat Tottenham.”

@ManCitty9320: “Hope it’s not an injury, but KDB missing a game of two isn’t the end of the world, he needs a break.”

@registarodri: “Lowkey happy about this he resets and gets back to his best after injury or illness, plus now we can go on our winning streak with Gundo”

@_zolutho: “Gundo – Rodri – Silva has always been City’s best midfield tbh”

@MCRsBlue: “Never thought I’d say this but I’m not too fussed. He’s been awful since returning from the World Cup. At least we have Ruben Dias return to training.”

@gunsbugsnpower: “KDB will be missed, but I feel right now the person that best gets Halaand’s game in the city set up is Gundogan. We need him to play and Bernardo has to play for our build up and Press. No complaints here.”
