Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the Premier League champions among other clubs are tracking KRC Genk and Morocco midfielder Bilal El Khannous.

The Moroccan was called up to the national team for the World Cup and made his international debut during the third place defeat to Croatia.

This season, El Khannouss has made 18 appearances in the league and provided two assists. Having made just one appearance at the end of the last season, the teenager only broke into the first team this season, but is already being tipped to become Belgium’s record transfer sale in the future.

The Moroccan international’s meteoric rise could be set to continue, with a new report emerging in Belgian media this week suggesting that Premier League champions Manchester City are among the clubs most interested in the player.

According to the information of HLN Sport in Belgium, Manchester City and Napoli are the clubs that ‘most emphatically follow’ KRC Genk’s exciting midfield talent Bilal El Khannouss at present.

However, it is stated that the Belgian club want to retain the services of the 18 year-old for ‘at least another year and a half’, before breaking the record for the most expensive outgoing transfer in Belgium.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@YakumiSarai: “The guy that Moroccan love to compare to Kev?”

@MatisseSchorpi1: “He is class. Not the best stats, but only 18 years old and so mature on the pitch. Very good vision and passing. Technically on a very high level. Attacking midfielder, but he defends along as well. Many pre-assists. Great running ability. One for the future.”

@CitehFlip: “He is class!! Really hope we’ll sign him”

@BenEzimoha: “I watched this guy in the world cup for Morocco and he is actually good. Are you sure he’s 18? He played like he was at least 27 in the third place playoff”

@eLliotMCFC12: “Perrone, El Khannous Why are we signing these type of players???”

@JumaniLahai: “We are building something special at the Etihad 💙”

@fodenestdeus: “Peronne and El Khannous will develope into world class midfielders under Pep”
