‘Swap with Leão or Theo!’ – Man City Fans React As Star Ace Attracting Interest From AC Milan

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims AC Milan are among several clubs monitoring Joao Cancelo’s situation at the Etihad.

Joao Cancelo hasn’t had a good start to 2023. Since returning from the FIFA World Cup, the fullback has started in only one league game for Manchester City and has seemingly earned the status of a bench player in recent weeks.

Pep Guardiola has often opted to utilise Nathan Ake in the left-sided full-back position, while teenage breakthrough talent Rico Lewis has largely occupied the right-back position ahead of both Cancelo and Kyle Walker.

His lack of role in the Manchester City first-team has sparked interest from clubs across Europe, as reported recently by The Telegraph.

According to a new report from Martin Blackburn for The Sun, Serie A giants AC Milan are said to be among ‘several’ sides monitoring Joao Cancelo’s ongoing situation at Manchester City.

Interest from the San Siro could potentially spark an opening elsewhere for City in the summer transfer window, who are known to hold admiration in a number of the Rossoneri’s first-team talents.

Wide forward Rafael Leao and defender Theo Hernandez are players that the Premier League champions are continuing to monitor closely.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, with many calling for a swap deal with either Leao and Hernandez.

At present, Cancelo is understood to be fully-focused on the games that loom in the immediate future for Manchester City, while there is also no feeling from the player that he should be searching for a move away from the club in the coming months.

He is contracted to Man City until 2027 and has said he wants to stay at the club for many more years. However, it remains to be seen if that will still be the case come the end of the season should he continue to spend more time on the bench than in the starting XI.
